What devices will the application work on?

iRead With applications require an iPad with iOS 6.1 or later (iPad 2, iPad with Retina or iPad mini).

My app didn’t download.

Make sure your 3G or WiFi connection is working. The App Store should know that your download was interrupted and continue whenever your connection is restored. If this does not work, please go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes.

How do I reset my microphone access option?

When the application launches for the first time, a microphone permission pop-up will prompt you to accept microphone access. If this option is not accepted and you wish to change this, please go to the Settings > Privacy > Microphone menu of your device to reset the access. Afterwards, when you launch the application and the microphone access pop-up appears, select OK to accept.

Why is the app showing a 'Not enough storage' message?

Make sure that there is enough storage space available on your device. To view the available storage space, go to the Settings > General > Usage menu. To free up space on your device, you may need to uninstall one or more applications.

My app crashed.

First, power off your iPad. After it shuts down, turn your iPad back on and then restart the app. If that doesn’t solve the issue, make sure your device is running the latest iOS version. To verify this, synchronize your device with iTunes on your computer. Also, you may want to check that you have the latest version of iTunes. To do this, open iTunes, click the Help menu and choose “Check for Updates”.

One last thing to try: If you synchronized your app from a computer to your iPad, there could have been an issue with the sync. Try removing the app from your iPad and sync again. If your app continues to crash, please email support@ireadwith.com.

The sound in the app doesn’t work.

iOS 6 and lower

Please verify if your iPad isn’t set to mute via the On/Off button that is located right next to the sound buttons on the side of the iPad. If the sound is still not working please follow these steps: Double click quickly on the Home button of your iPad. This will bring up the task bar of opened apps. Once this bar is opened, slide it to the right so you can see the iPad’s settings. You should see the sound options appear in the bar. If the mute sound icon appears, you will know that your iPad is set on mute. Tap the icon to enable the sound again.

iOS 7 and higher

Please verify if your iPad isn’t set to mute via the On/Off button that is located right next to the sound buttons on the side of the iPad. If the sound is still not working please follow these steps: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get the Control Center menu and verify that volume control is not completely to the left. If the side button controls the screen rotation for the device, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get the Control Center menu and verify that mute icon, which is located in the center, is not enabled. Otherwise, simply click on the mute icon to turn it off or on.

I downloaded the Lite version of the app, what is the difference?

The Lite version is only a sample app with 3 pages, so you’re missing the main part of the story! You can unlock the Full version from the Purchase screen.

How can I restore an iRead With app that I've already paid for?

Some iRead With apps come in Lite and Full versions. To determine which one you’ve purchased, open the App Store on your tablet, tap on the Purchased tab, then locate and download the app. If you have downloaded the Lite version:

  • Tap on the “Buy full version” button to open the Purchase screen
  • Next, tap the “Restore your previous purchase” button and enter your Apple ID password if requested
  • In almost all cases, this will automatically unlock the full app

If the app is not automatically unlocked, contact us to verify your purchase details and request an unlock code. Once received, simply return to the app’s Purchase screen, tap “Need help?” and enter the unlock code to restore your purchase.

How to set reading options, such as muting sounds or turning off interactivity?

Press the Settings button to set reading options. (Button with gears in the upper left corner) You can disable sound effects, background music, interactions, change language or adjust the level of difficulty of the questions. In this section, you also have access to other customization functions: record the sound of interactive words and change the character of your avatar. Finally, you will find reading tips to make the most of your shared reading experience.

How to hear the sounds of interactive words?

When you touch an interactive word, you can hear the sound of the word if you have previously recorded it. To record your voice on an interactive word, press and hold the word for a second. The microphone will appear. Press the ‘microphone’ button to start recording. For best results, articulate well and say the word loud!

Does the app provide a safe environment for kids?

We’ve made sure that children can use the app safely. Access to the parents’ Info page and Purchase screen is protected by a parental gate.
