The Program is intended for parents to use with their pre-literate preschool aged children. It is intended for adult-supervised use, and is neither designed nor appropriate for use by older, literate children.
1. Collection and Use of Personal Information
A. We collect the following personal information for the purposes stated below:
Your email address
We collect your e-mail address when you setup an account or communicate with us by e-mail. We may use your e-mail address to send you e-mail relating to your account, the Program and other products and services offered by us or our parent company, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company, and its affiliates (our “Affiliates”), such as e-mail:
- 1. Confirming your account creation;
- 2. Offering parent tips, or informing you of new apps or prize promotions;
- 3. Regarding other educational products we or our Affiliates develop; and
- 4. Alerting you to an issue with your account or circumstances that could result in a disruption of service.
You may choose to stop receiving promotional e-mail communications by clicking on the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any e-mail.
Your child username
You may create a “username” in connection with an add-on Service, if available. This is a nickname you create for each child who uses the Program. It can be fictional and should not include the child’s family name. (Using a fictional username can help protect your child’s identity.) We collect and use a username solely to personalize the Program for your child and for you to receive progress reports and recommendations regarding your child. We do not use a username for advertising to you or your child, nor do we share a username with third parties for them to advertise to you or your child.
Your child’s birthday
You may provide your child’s birthday in connection with an add-on Service, if available. You are not required to provide a birthday to use an add-on Service. If you provide one, we collect and use it solely for you to compare your child’s success rate with the success rate of children of a similar age. We do not use a birthday for advertising to you or your child, nor do we share a birthday with third parties for them to advertise to you or your child.
Your child’s learning profile
If an add-on progress tracking Service is available, we track your child’s learning progress by collecting data on a child’s usage of various games in the Program and associate it with the account you set up for the child. We use this data in a de-identified, anonymous way, except when we provide you with your child’s progress report. This data allows us to offer your child the appropriate level of challenge in learning games and also helps us to evaluate the efficacy of our interactive curriculum and improve our services. We generally retain this data for several years or longer to enable you continued access to your child’s progress report, but we undertake no obligation to do so. You may request that we erase this data, by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
B. We may also collect non-personal information such as general usage information and demographic information. We treat this information as personal information to the extent it is combined with personal information. We may use this information for any purpose, and share it with third parties, to the extent it is not so combined, or is anonymized or de-identified.
Sharing of Your Personal Information
Children Under the Age of 18
An account may be setup by a parent or legal guardian 18 or older. The Program is not designed to collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18, and is intended to be purchased and used by parents of pre-literate preschool aged children for such children. If you believe that a child under the age of 13 has submitted personal information to us, please contact us at email@example.com so that we may delete it. Adult supervision is recommended at all times and children should not be allowed access to the parent center.
The Program does not contain third party advertising or product placement. We may, however, promote products and services of Tribal Nova and its Affiliates to you via the Program, including in the form of ads. We may use third party vendors to assist us in doing so, including to track which products and services you have already obtained from us and our Affiliates, so that we do not promote something you already have, and to limit the number of ads and promotional messages we send you.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We may use various methods and technologies to store or collect usage information and associate it with you (“Tracking Technologies”), such as “Cookies”. A Cookie is a data file we or others may put on your device that captures and retains certain usage associated with a persistent identifier, such as your device ID. We use this information to facilitate and improve our operations and services, as, for example, automatically signing you in so that you do not have to enter a username and password each time you use one of our Applications. No personal information (aside from a persistent identifier) is stored in a Tribal Nova cookie, even if you have entered personal information in other parts of the Program. Some tracking technologies may be disabled by you through device settings and otherwise, but the Program may cease to operate fully or correctly if Cookies and other Tracking Technologies are disabled.

If you are located outside of the United States, the information we collect, including personal information, will be transferred to, and processed, stored and used in the United States. The laws in the United States may differ from those of the country in which you are located, and your personal information may be subject to access requests from governments, courts or law enforcement in the United States according to laws of the United States. You consent to the transfer to, and processing, usage, sharing and storage of, your personal information in the United States.
We utilize commercially reasonable safeguards to help protect and secure your personal information within our systems.
